Drew McIntyre Religion
WWE superstar Drew McIntyre is better known for his championship reigns than for talking about religion. He hails from Ayr, Scotland, and public profiles list him as a Christian. However, McIntyre himself has never publicly confirmed any faith or spoken about religion in interviews.

What religion is Drew McIntyre?
McIntyre has not publicly discussed his religion. Available information suggests he may be Christian, but this comes only from fan sites, not from the wrestler himself. For example, one online profile simply lists his religion as “Christianity”.
In interviews and social media, McIntyre keeps his faith out of the spotlight. Because he grew up in Scotland, a country with a predominantly Christian heritage, it is often assumed he comes from a Christian background. Still, without any direct statement from McIntyre or a credible news source, we can only say his faith is uncertain; the only clue is that one profile identifies him as Christian.
Early life
Andrew McLean Galloway IV (Drew McIntyre) was born on June 6, 1985 in Ayr, Scotland and grew up in nearby Prestwick. As a boy he played youth football (soccer) for the local Prestwick Boys club as a defender, dreaming at first of a soccer career. He was also an inquisitive child, at age 10 he read a magazine on conspiracies and wrote to the FBI under the Freedom of Information Act, and actually received a reply with documents. McIntyre began training in wrestling at 15. His parents agreed to support his career on the condition that he kept up his schooling. He did just that, McIntyre went on to earn a master’s degree in criminology from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2006 before fully committing to professional wrestling.
Wrestling Career Highlights
McIntyre began wrestling in 2001 on the British independent scene. He competed in Scottish promotions such as British Championship Wrestling and Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) under his real name Drew Galloway. He became the inaugural ICW World Heavyweight Champion and built a reputation as a top talent in the UK. In late 2007 he signed with WWE and took the ring name Drew McIntyre. By 2009 he had “The Chosen One” gimmick and won WWE’s Intercontinental Championship and (with Cody Rhodes) a Tag Team Championship on the SmackDown brand. Despite this early push, he spent the next few years in mid-card roles and was released by WWE in 2014.
Outside WWE from 2014 to 2017, McIntyre wrestled worldwide under his real name. He returned to ICW in Scotland (winning another ICW World Heavyweight title) and in 2018 was honored by being inducted into the ICW Hall of Fame. In 2015 he also joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA, later Impact Wrestling) and captured the TNA World Heavyweight Championship during his run there.
McIntyre rejoined WWE in 2017, first on the NXT brand. He won the NXT Championship in early 2017. Back on the main roster from 2018, he won the Raw Tag Team Championship with Dolph Ziggler and then the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match. These victories led to two WWE Championship reigns (including a memorable win as the main event of WrestleMania 36) and the 2024 Men’s World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL. This made McIntyre the first wrestler born in Scotland ever to become a WWE world champion.
Personal life
McIntyre married fellow wrestler Taryn Terrell in 2010; they divorced a year later. In 2016 he married Kaitlyn Frohnapfel (a doctor), and the couple now lives in Nashville, Tennessee (they had previously been based in Tampa, Florida). McIntyre’s mother, Angela, died in late 2012 after a long illness. He is a lifelong fan of the Rangers Football Club of Glasgow, often mentioning his pride in his Scottish heritage in interviews. In June 2023 McIntyre announced that he became a U.S. citizen, while retaining his Scottish roots.
